The Dot by Peter H. Reynolds is a children’s book but its message is an important one for artists young and old, experienced or just starting out. It is a story about validating the art one makes, even if we are unsure about how it compares to others. This assignment is the first opportunity for self-expression and a chance to experiment with materials. Students in Drawing and Painting and Foundations of Art will be able to check out other dots made from around the world because “International Dot Day” is September 15th-ish.
