God and Goddess Scratchboards

Thomas Wuorinen’s “Zeus”

Students conducted research on a mythical god or goddesses of their choosing and identified an image of the figure that has strong value range and personality traits. By utilizing a variety of mark-making techniques, the goal was to convey the obvious and subtle changes of light, form and texture. Students etched the thin layer of black clay to reveal the silver foil layer underneath.

The photographs of the student work were taken at an angle to prevent the photographer (me) from being in the art:)

We hope you enjoy the work and recommend that you visit the exhibit on Main Street to see the work up close.

Above is the full exhibit, but trust me, you need to see these fine details in person.
